The city has a river air base, where planes may be chartered for trips to the wilderness. Mystery Mountain, just outside of Thompson offers downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross country skiing, and a biathlon range. Snowmobiling ix extremely popular around Thompson with more than 200 miles of groomed trails between Thompson and Sasagiu Rapids.

There is a wide array of arts, crafts and musical groups which enrich the community.
